Biography
Michael Meier is a geographer by training, with a specialization in international cooperation. His professional experience includes working with a prominent pacifist non-governmental organization, the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. For over a decade, he has been addressing spatial planning issues in the international district of Geneva, where he also oversees innovation initiatives. In this capacity, he has contributed to a better understand of the potentials of a contribution-based economy and the commons within the public sector. In his personal capacity, he is involved with several foundations that focus on the commons, including low-tech initiatives (Antenna), social entrepreneurship (Ideavox), and open urbanism, which support community-driven projects and spaces in the canton of Geneva.
