George Iordachescu

Biography

George Iordachescu is an environmental anthropologist and a member in a forest commons of the Southern Carpathian Mountains in Romania. He works as a Senior Researcher at Forest and Nature Conservation Policy group at Wageningen University, Netherlands, where he leads the ERC-funded project GreenFrontier: Politics of Conservation in European Peripheries. Spotlighting the experiences of rural commons as convivial and alternative ways of doing conservation in Europe is his long-term commitment. George also works as Associate Researcher for the University of Sibiu, Romania, where he  coordinates a research group investigating environmental conflicts and injustices in rural areas of his home country. Since 2019 he has been a honorary member of the ICCA Consortium and led the reporting of the European case in the flagship Territories of Life 2021 Report.
